Eternals
Biography
Asa and Paul Lennon, saw a flyer posted on a music store wall by a teenage drummer, Hiram, who was seeking other musicians to form a band to do only original music.
The three of them, Paul on Rhythm guitar, Ace on lead guitar and Hiram on drums, started jamming and writing songs in the attic of a house on Knox Avenue in Middletown, New York.
Soon a bass/keyboard player, Chris Cavalari, joined them in their laboratory in the attic. They recorded a demo of a few original songs as “The Clique”. The demo was used to lure another bass player, Mike Labanowski, from a local cover band and allowed Cavalari to become the full time keyboard player. Thus the Eternals were born - a rock and roll band with a punk rock ethic.
Since local gigs in Orange County were difficult to find given the existing predominantly country western venues, they played extensively on numerous college campuses and in New York City and New Jersey at many of the biggest clubs of the time including CBGBs, Gildersleeves, The Mudd Club, The Bitter End, The Ritz, Hurrahs, The Dirt Club, Hitsville, and Knup’s.
The band recorded a single titled “Night and Day” in 1982 with an AM friendly throwback 60’s pop tune, “Never to be Known”, backed by the more menacing love stalker song, “Night Fright”. Soon after recording the single the band disbanded and each member went their separate ways.
In January of 2022, Marky Ramone featured the song “Night Fright” on his national SiriusXM “Punk Rock Blitzkrieg” channel. This caused the band to reunite to record new music. Their new song “Westminster Flowers”, will be released summer of 23.
